We arrived in Venice by train at the Santa Lucia train Station. Santa Lucia Train station is right on the Grand Canal and from there we can start our walking tour of Venice. If you prefer, right outside the station you can take the Vaporetto (Venice public transit) all the way down the Grand Canal.

Lunch in Cannaregio

From the train station, we first started our walking tour of Venice Italy. Our first stop was the Cannaregio area of Venice, where the Jewish ghetto is. Secondly, we found a great place for a traditional Venice Cicchetti lunch. Cicchetti are bite-size pieces of bread with either meat, vegetables, or fish on top. You can order as many as you like and they are delicious.

The Jewish Ghetto and the Synagogues

After lunch, we started walking towards the Fondamenta De Mori to check out a Venician superstition. After that, we booked a tour of the Jewish Museum of Venice and the old Synagogues. To visit the Jewish Museum you need to buy the ticket in advance and the ticket includes the visit to both Synagogues.

Walk to Rialto Bridge and Venice best-kept secret!

After the visit to the Synagogues, we started our walking tour of Venice Italy and we went to the Rialto area. We show you one of Venice’s best secrets! You can take a gondola ride for only €2.00!!! This is not the traditional 45 minutes ride in the canals, it is a ferry service between the two sides of the Grand Canal. It is not much but it is perfect for the selfie for Instagram!

Walk to San Marco

From the Rialto bridge, we continue our walking tour of Venice Italy all the way to San Marco square where we walk inside the Basilica and we take some great shots from the balcony. After visiting the basilica we end our walking tour of Venice and walk back to Santa Lucia train station.
